This week in real time:

We spent a lot of time soaking in the last few days of having awesome friends as our neighbors! Our nightly activities included games, watching football, bonfires, and homemade pizza night! Unfortunately these extra fun memories did not make the goodbyes any easier...

Before we left Idaho I told Dylan I needed one more adventure in the Sawtooth mountains. We completed an 8 mile round trip hike to see some of the Bench Lakes - an area that had a huge forest fire a year ago and is beginning to recover. We were spoiled with views of the gorgeous Redfish Lake on one side, and views of the Sawtooth Mountains on the other side for the whole hike-and more alpine lakes at the top of the hike! We hit our favorite hot springs one last time after the hike but were surprised to find them chillier than normal due to some high river flow pouring over the rock walls that typically define and contain the spring pools.

After a long day of fun we were reminded that Xirco is still a puppy...for the second time he has chewed some holes in our microbead pillow which makes quite a mess. Nothing like a little vacuuming right before bed. But his cute face and sweet snuggles usually redeem him quickly!

Our temptation to stay in Idaho longer was shut down by below freezing nights/super frosty mornings earlier this week...and forecasts of snow over the weekend.

After a lot of work packing up our life, and some very difficult goodbyes, we were hitting the road again with our whole house in tow.

Our goal for Wednesday was just to get on the road, so when we had driven a few hours and sunset was looming we pulled off to a National Forest camping area near Sun Valley, ID for the night. We were spoiled with a wide open valley with lots of fall colors and a lovely trail to hike around. We were slow to hit the road again the next day which led to a late start for a long drive day. I was missing the 10pm sunsets when our drive day was extending into dark. On the second drive day we crossed into Oregon and Pacific Time, and found a rest area to park for the night in Buchanan, OR.

Friday, our third travel day, brought us to our destination of La Pine, Oregon which is not too far from Bend. This time we are staying at our first ever Boondockers Welcome site. Boondockers Welcome are homeowners who offer RV parking on their property for free-if you are a subscriber. These hosts have a cute puppy that Xirco was excited to play with after a long day in the car! While adjusting to Pacific Time is a little confusing, we are excited to actually explore Oregon beyond the quick one night stops on the way through we have had so far.
