This week in real time:
We started our journey down the Oregon Coast, on Highway 101, and it was of course a very rainy day. We were having some strange electrical issues with the trailer so we decided to find a campground to stay at to figure things out. Dylan randomly picked the coolest State Park Campground that had awesome trails to the beach!
Thanks to Dylan braving the rainy/chilly night to figure out the electrical issues so that we can operate our house! While Dylan was out in the cold, I was excited to bake our first pumpkin treat of the season! We took the dogs on the beach the first night for a good romp in the mist. In the morning we decided to stay an extra night so we could do some more exploring. We hiked down to the South Beach Jetty a few hours before low tide and were excited to see STARFISH! After many attempts with no starfish, I was rewarded with an almost endless supply of starfish and anemone that we could see as the tide went out. Luna had a blast swimming in the tidepools, and Xirco was digging the sand and playing with shells!
When we left the state park I did some driving so Dylan could relax and enjoy the views of 101, which did not dissappoint. Dylan finished up our drive day and got us parked on a big pull-off just next to 101. We parked with an amazing view of the Pacific and some cool rock structures, just in time to watch a beautiful sunset! We met another young traveler with a dog at this stop, and went tidepool exploring together the next day!
Unfortunately, after our beach/tidepool fun it started pouring for the next 12 hours and a GIANT puddle formed right below our front stairs... In the morning, the rain broke enough for us to get packed up and hit the road again.
On Thursday we officially crossed the border into California! We got settled at an RV Park that is nestled in some cool Redwood trees!
On Friday we took a scenic drive through Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and got to see some Old Growth Redwoods, truly massive!
Yesterday we met up with our new travel friend Kris, and her pug to do some more Redwood hiking. We also explored another beach together, and met up at a brewery in Crescent City for dinner. Making friends on the road is rare so we enjoyed being on the same route this week, and hope to meet up again down the road!
Thank you all for joining our newsletter email list! Feel free to reach out, we love hearing from you!
