This week in real time:

Last week we told you we had just arrived to a new off-grid campsite in the Tillamook State Forest. We ended up staying there until Friday, a total of 8 nights. This is a tie for our previous off-grid camping record of 8 nights. We soaked up solar power when possible, but also invested in a generator to help us stay off grid in rainy or tree-covered situations like this!

When it wasn't raining we enjoyed walking through the gorgeous mossy forest! We also enjoyed a few campfires, surprisingly good fires considering all of the wood was wet. I even introduced Dylan to the campfire classic - The Campfire Banana Boat/Split. Is he the only person that has never had one? I swear we used to make them on every scout camping trip growing up!

Xirco has been testing out a hand-me-down bowtie from Odie, what do you think? Luna on the other hand was enjoying sticking her nose in the charcoal, and painting her fur with mud!

I escaped the forest a few times to run errands...and persue my goal of seeing cool sea creatures in tidepools. I have been promised "tidepools teaming with life" since getting the Washington, and had yet to see anything. One day I met up with my cousin Jordan for a gorgeous walk at Ona Beach, and although we didn't see many creatures we had a great time chatting and exploring! Later in the week I went to Tunnel Beach, thanks Kate!, to explore again. I still have yet to see a Starfish, but I am happy to report I had success in finding some very cool anemone!

After 8 nights of forest living, I was ready to get to a campground with unlimited water and power! We moved the trailer to an RV Park in Tillamook, just a short 30 minute drive from the forest. We ended up taking the most beautiful walk through Kilchis Point Reserve yesterday and saw so many different mushrooms, and even a few more banana slugs!

However, the highlight of this quick stay might have to be our visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. I expected it to be a quick trip for free cheese samples and fresh scooped ice cream, but we were pretty fascinated by the cheese production and educational content. We could not resist some fried cheese curds after looking at so much yummy cheese, and we of course had ice cream too! If you ever get the chance, it is seriously worth the visit!
