This week in real time:

We decided to slow down after a few busy days of adventure, and soaked up an extra day in our redwood campsite. Check out the tree that looked like a face!

On Monday we drove a few hours South to get setup for the week in an area close to some new Redwood parks. We were camping at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds which was kind of cool as they were preparing for some winter festivities. We also enjoyed how peaceful our location was, facing a field of cows, with lovely sunset views!

We went on a really cool dog friendly hike where we all got a great workout due to some big elevation changes. We also saw about 8 banana slugs, first we had seen in California!

The following day we went out for the scenic drive on the Avenue of the Giants. We hiked around some amazingly GIANT trees, even Clifford looked small next to them!

We celebrated our first Thanksgiving in the RV in Ferndale, CA - in our fairgrounds campsite. Although we missed gathering with family we enjoyed keeping in touch with technology and having a chill day. We celebrated by streaming the parade and football all day, and cooking a feast. As cooking in the RV can be a little more difficult we limited our menu to mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and antelope of course. Alright, I know that's not the traditional meat but we had been saving an antelope roast from our friends in Idaho for a special occasion!

We have been making a habit of spontaneously deciding to stay in a spot an extra night...and decided to do that again at the fairgrounds! It was nice to have a post-Thanksgiving day to relax and figure out where we were headed. Today we started our drive inland towards the Sacramento area. We are currently parked for the night at an adorable winery and olive mill! We enjoyed a tasting of their wines and olive oils, and were spoiled by a gorgeous sunset over the olive grove. Next Stop: a campground close enough for a day trip to Lake Tahoe! Let us know if you have any Tahoe recommendations!
