This week in real time:
After a fun night at a winery/olive mill we finished our drive to Placerville, CA (closer to the Sierra Nevada's). We stayed at another county fairground RV Park, this was the third we've stayed at on the West Coast!
We were drawn to Placerville as a low elevation landing spot for the RV that was within driving distance to Lake Tahoe. Dylan had been to Tahoe to snowboard years ago, but this was my first visit! We spent a long day driving the windy mountainous roads into the Tahoe area. First we visited the Olympic Valley Park to see the Olympic rings and flame, and enjoyed driving through the Olympic Valley which had some impressive homes and lodges!
From there we traveled South along the Western side of Lake Tahoe, and the views were fantastic! We did a short hike up a large rock formation for some great views! Emerald Bay State Park came highly recommended but was unfortunately not dog friendly so we only stopped at an overlook there, but it was gorgeous!
I really wanted to get down to lake level so we found a dog friendly beach to walk on. We had gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding mountains, but it was chilly! I can't wait to go back to Tahoe someday when it's warm enough to swim and paddle board!
We were spoiled with the most gorgeous hot pink sunset in the mountains on our drive out of Lake Tahoe.
The next day we hung out in our fairground campsite to be productive, plan our next stop, cook, etc. Plus our first earthquake alert-we did not feel it though. We had a decent drive to the next site that would get us close to Yosemite National Park! Now we are all set up at our home base for the next few nights, enjoying our cow neighbors, and a lot of quail! We can't wait to go to Yosemite tomorrow and share all about it next week!
Xirco has a new "spot" in the truck these days where he likes to poke his head up to the front seat. Luckily Luna is okay with taking the back half of the seat!
Thank you all for joining our newsletter email list! Feel free to reach out, we love hearing from you!
