Hey there JDLX Travel fans!

A few weeks ago we added a new post about our trip to North Cascades National Park. We're trying out a new style of blog post, let us know what you think!

This week in real time:

We were planning to head to King's Canyon and visit General Grant, which has been dubbed the Nation's Christmas Tree. This year they held the 100th Trek to the Nation's Christmas Tree. However, when we woke up our poor Luna girl needed to go to the vet so we did not make it to King's Canyon on this visit. Luna got some antibiotics and is feeling much better! We went to a nearby town to walk around Bravo Lake, which also overlooked a cool botanical garden. The next evening, our hosts brought us homemade hot cocoa and popcorn which was so sweet!

Our next travel day took us through Bakersfield, McFarland (cool to see after watching the movie), and over the Sierra's through Tehachapi. After days of heavy fog it was cool to break through the fog layer to see sunshine and gorgeous mountain views! We could definitely notice the difference in landscape as we entered the Mojave desert, heading towards the Death Valley area.

We camped at yet another fairground campground for a few nights to enjoy full hook ups and laundry! The Desert Empire RV Park impressed us with some excellent mountain views right out of our window. We did have to break out Luna's booties again due to some spikey goatheads around the campground.

One of our other missions while staying at the campground was to do some recon to check out some free campsites in the area. We were really glad that we scoped out Trona Pinnacles, which were SO COOL but unfortunately the road was way too rough to tow the trailer. {Aren't you glad to hear we scoped it in the truck and aren't writing that we got stuck again??} We took advantage of our time at the Pinnacles to enjoy the views, and the jet flyovers since we likely won't make it down the rough 5 mile unpaved road again anytime soon. It would be an awesome campsite if we had a rig more equipped for off-roading!

Yesterday we moved to our new off-grid spot, which is in an Off Highway Vehicle area that allows camping. It is super windy here, but we have tons of space to ourselves, the pups are loving it! Dylan and Xirco went on a mountain biking adventure today to explore and caught some awesome views. We have some distant neighbors which is cool, but they set off fireworks at 3am which we did not love! We are hoping to hang here in the desert through Christmas, unless the weather forces us to change plans. Happy Holidays!!
