This week in real time:
Hope you didn't miss us too much when we took an unplanned weekend off of the newsletter! We had the most fun week and an awesome but exhausting adventure last week. We were lucky to catch some great views of the full moon on a walk! We got to go to the running club with our friends again, and had them over to the RV park afterwards. We all went over to the sister RV park to where we are staying to check out their cantina and pools/hot tub!
On a dip in the resort hot tub we chatted with a long term resident of the park who had lots of tide pool recommendations, including the fact that the tides are extra low after the full moon. I could not resist the temptation to see more tide pool creatures, like maybe an octopus?! So we went to the area Dylan had surfed at low tide, and it felt like a totally different world. The tide pools had tons of cool grasses, hermit crabs, etc. but we did not see a ton of other life. I did manage to capture one super colorful anemone though!
Across the bay from the RV Park we can see Fiesta Island, which often has lots of cars parked on the beach. We finally decided to check it out one afternoon and had a great time! I paddled across the bay on the paddle board and spotted some paragliders on the way! Once we got set up on the beach we took turns paddle boarding with the pups and were excited that Xirco seemed really interested in being on the board. This was pretty different from his first paddle board experience on the Salmon River in Idaho where he cried almost the whole time...

I can't believe we did all of those fun activities the week before backpacking! Matt and Jenn took us to a really cool spot for our first backpacking trip with the pups (and Dylan and I's first together). On the way to the trail we stopped in the town of Julian for some good food and pie, that they are known for! We had an awesome time hiking and hanging out at our campground right next to a creek. The only issue was that a little Xirco trying to snuggle in our sleeping bags caused us to sleep terribly...Hence why we did not get around to writing a newsletter when we got home!
But also we couldn't stay mad at this sweet snuggle boy for long, I mean come on!
This week has been a little less exciting, but a very necessary recovery week! We had some fun sightings of the "resident green parrots" who like to visit a tree near our campsite. We also had a lovely time meeting some more of my extended family that live in San Diego and got to see their really cool house! Soaking in as many sunset walks with these views as we can! And I finally got to catch up with Jackie, one of my best friends from college, who lives in LA. We met up in Laguna Beach and watched another gorgeous sunset!
Thank you all for joining our newsletter email list! Feel free to reach out, we love hearing from you!

In typical JDLX fashion we still are not sure where we are going when we check out on Thursday LOL!
