Time Capsule:

A year ago, we were hanging out on South Padre Island at Ms. Stacy's enjoying all of her animals! We were adjusting to the newest member of our pack, Xirco, and also got engaged there! We had the best time catching up with Stacy, Nick, Emily, Sophie, and Debbie! Looks like we have skipped cold weather in March two years in a row!

Last week in real time:

In our last newsletter we had just arrived to Lone Rock Beach. Last year we drove through the Page, AZ area on our way from the Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon and made a note to go back someday. Little did we know there was an awesome off grid camping location just over the state line from Page in Utah at Lone Rock. This was one of the best views we've ever had from our RV, and we seriously could spend all day hiking around the dunes to the lake! Due to our prime camping location, we didn't actually leave to explore very often.

However, we did take one day to visit the iconic Horseshoe Bend in Page. Wow, was that a cool view! There were a ton of boats zipping around the bend in the Colorado River, I have now added boating or raftin on the Colorado River to my bucket list! We also took a hike to the Hanging Gardens area of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. There were some really cool rocks and tons of plant life along the trail!

We planned our next drive day to route us right past Monument Valley, which spans northeastern Arizona along the Utah-Arizona line. Even if you haven't heard of Monument Valley, you may actually recognize some of the impressive sandstone structures among the vast Colorado Plateau from the movie Forrest Gump! We had a blast looking at all of the different sculpture-like rocks, and as a bonus saw some wild horses. This was the beginning of our journey into the Navajo Nation region-the Navajo people consider this landscape as sacred.

Our next stop was in the small town of Bluff, Utah. Although they didn't have diesel fuel or a grocery store in town, the bluff canyon walls and access to the San Juan River made it an awesome home base for a few days!

Our draw to the Bluff area was its proximity to the Valley of the Gods, sometimes called a mini Monument Valley. Since we didn't get the chance to drive into Monument Valley, we thought it would be fun to drive the Valley of the Gods road. It was a really cool drive with amazing views, and we found a hiking trail to explore with the pups! Afterwards we went to see the Sand Island Petroglyphs. It was a really cool look at human artifacts from over 2,500 years ago! We saw another Maryland car on our scenic drive and said hi, then we ran into the same Maryland couple on our hike at the Petroglyphs! What a fun coincidence!

On Sunday, we made a short drive with the trailer to a new state on our adventure - Colorado! More to come about our Colorado adventures soon!
