Time Capsule:
A year ago, we made it to the Grand Canyon, which was Dylan's first visit! As we left the Grand Canyon, we were treated to snow globe views over the canyon-stunning. Then we spent some time exploring the equally stunning Bryce Canyon. Our only other Utah stop on that stretch was to the town of Tooele, south of Salt Lake City. We made a trip to the Great Salt Lake to walk on the salt flats!
We've missed you the last few weeks, let's catch you up on our adventures!:
After we left Nevada, we crossed back into California to visit the Joshua Tree area! We found a campsite on Bureau of Land Management land just outside of the National Park, but unfortunately on the side where Joshua Trees do not grow. Luckily we still had gorgeous mountain views! We took a day trip to see the Joshua Trees in the National Park.
After about 2 months of heavy travel, sightseeing, and moving the RV at least once a week we were ready to slow down, starting in this beautiful campsite! We enjoyed many sunset walks around the free camping area! We also livestreamed a lot of the Coachella music festival since we were only about half an hour from where it was going on!
WARNING: Spider picture below! But first, a goofy Xirco! This is a camel spider that we found hiding under the RV when we were packing up to leave Joshua Tree.
For the first time in a long time, we enjoyed the ease of returning to a place we had been before. We went back to the same campground in Mission Bay, San Diego! All of us were very ready to keep the house in one spot for a few weeks in a row! Unsurprisingly one of our first activities back in San Diego was visiting the seals and sea lions in La Jolla, this time with the pups!
Last time we were in San Diego we had a pretty uneventful tidepool trip, so I was determined to have a better experience this go around. I went to an area near Scripps Pier and hit the jackpot! There was a class there at the same time and they pointed out some lobster, a sea slug (AKA nudibranch), and a bat star. The highlight was definitely spotting my first octopus in the wild all on my own!
The best part of getting back to San Diego was seeing friends again! We went to run club with our friends Matt and Jenn, followed by beer and California Burritos of course! We also got to watch Dylan's friend Tim play lacrosse every sunday on a competitive local men's league! That was our first West Coast Lacrosse experience!
