This week in real time:

This week has been a bit different as Dylan flew home on Tuesday. One of the closest (and cheapest) airports is Boise, which is still over 3 hours from the Ranch. On Tuesday morning we worked to get the ranch changed over for a new group and then made the long drive to Boise. Once we dropped Dylan off, the dogs and I hung out at a park for dinner and a little walk before driving the 3.5 hours back home. It made for a pretty long and tiring day but thanks to audiobooks we made it through without too much misery. We also saw some fireweed in the forest during one of our pit stops. It's a beautiful native flower in this region, and can be used to make jam or syrup! I attempted some syrup, which looks pretty but I haven't tasted it yet.

Dylan took Xirco on a long mountain run before he left and Xircos tongue was out like this for a solid 5 minutes! Also, in case you don't recognize him, Dylan cut his hair!

We spotted some sandhill cranes on a walk before Dylan left!

Dylan is off on a fishing bachelor trip for my brother! He told me the water is so much warmer on the East coast than in Idaho!

The dogs and I are holding down the fort at the ranch. We've been trying to enjoy a lot of outside time, though I'm still shocked when its below 50 degrees when I wake up in the morning! We are also getting a lot of growth in our garden which is getting me excited for when we have produce to pick!

What we're eating this week:

Tested out a new sweet treat this week that had a twist. dark chocolate quinoa granola bars. I've been interested in trying to make puffed quinoa for awhile but this recipe actually just toasts the quinoa. It gives the bars a nice crunchy texture and nutty flavor.
