This week in real time:
We had a very exciting visitor this week! Elisa was able to swing by our remote location between visiting a friend in Oregon, and attending a wedding in Sun Valley. She stayed with us in the RV so she really got a good taste of RV life!
We took a day to travel to the nearby town of Stanley which has amazing views of the Sawtooth Mountains. We did a beautiful hike, that Dylan and I had found a few weeks ago. On our hike we made some major strides with Xirco getting used to water which is very exciting for us as Luna is a big water girl! We have been having afternoon storms which kept us from swimming in the lake, but we instead found some hot springs which were very relaxing!
The next day we started out a little slower with a nice breakfast and a last minute change to our hiking and rafting plans. We ended up doing a hike that would take us to an alpine lake as well as hot springs. The hike was well worth it, but with 1800 feet of elevation gain in about 2 miles it was TOUGH! It was appropriately rated as "hard" on All Trails. We saved the hot springs for the end of the hike, and even Luna thought it would feel nice to soak her sore muscles for a bit! After our big adventure we had planned to float a section of the Salmon River that is typically pretty calm. As the water level has gone down it has gotten a little choppier but we all had fun - even Xirco who had never been on a paddle board before!
Elisa was lucky to get to enjoy some gorgeous star gazing, and a huge bald eagle flying low right after our river float. We also enjoyed hanging around the property and played a quick game of pickleball before she had to leave. Dylan, the dogs and I were pretty pooped, but we ended up having a pretty fun time enjoying the ranch without guests! We played more pickleball and frisbee, and then had a fun bbq of burgers and smores (with oreos-which was amazing!) with the family that owns the ranch.
I got a little delayed with this weeks blog post and email because I realized I am missing photos from Bryce Canyon on my iphone...let me know if anyone has any experience recovering iphone photos! If not, I guess we have to go back!
What we're eating this week:
Sourdough Dutch Baby We ate it with strawberries & Fireweed Syrup. Such a delicious breakfast!
