This week in real time:
Last weekend Dylan, the pups, and I hiked up our nearby mountain together - it was my first time to the top! We clocked about 7 miles roundtrip with 1900 ft of elevation gain, ouch!
The next day Luna was sore and stubborn, but the lucky pup got a ride in a stroller on our walk. It was actually pretty cute!
We hunkered down to weather a few rainy days this week. The rain was much needed but the gloom made us want to stay inside!
The ranch owners were camping in the nearby town of Challis this week at the Challis Hot Springs. We went to visit them and enjoyed a totally new hot springs experience-giant manmade pool fed by hotsprings with a natural rock bottom. Awesome mountain views too - unfortunately we didn't see any Bighorn Sheep while we were swimming, but we were having fun playing with the kids in the pool anyways!
The biggest activity of the week was prepping the trailer to move! There is a wedding at the ranch this weekend, so we decided to get out of their way - and also remind ourselves how to move our trailer after being stationary for awhile. We are not leaving Idaho yet, but it was a good practice move. For the weekend we are being true next door neighors with the ranch owners which is fun! Shorter walk for movie nights and workouts together!
But actually, the real excitement this week has just begun! Dylan took off yesterday with Cole for some big firsts. He is accompanying Cole on a hunt, which is Dylan's first, AND they will be backpack camping with some of the pack llamas. This is Dylan's first backpacking trip as well! Stay tuned for next week's newsletter for all of the details on that trip...they plan to camp/hunt until Sunday!
What we're eating this week:
Homemade pizzas cooked in a solo stove pizza oven. Our favorite combinations were probably bbq chicken (with red onion and cilantro) and a white pizza with olive oil/garlic/pear/pistachio/red onion/basil/prosciutto/lots of cheese!
Thank you all for joining our newsletter email list! We love working on the blog and sending these updates - it's even more fun as the email list grows! Feel free to reach out, we love hearing from you!
Sent between spying on the wedding at the ranch with binoculars!
